Tea Tasting Conversations with Manasamitra at Heavenly Handmade
Heavenly Handmade originally got together to make items such as hats, gloves, scarves, and puppets for the Samaritans Purse shoebox appeal, which sends Christmas boxes to children who would not otherwise receive a present.
They wanted to learn new skills; make items for Christmas bags for the needy and make and sell items for the stall at Dewsbury Minster, raising much needed funds for the upkeep and community work of the church, which includes feeding those who find it difficult to make ends meet. The stall sits in the foyer as you enter the Minster, displaying beautifully handmade accessories and gifts which tastefully adorn the space. Its success has seen the group branch out to having stalls at various fairs in local schools as well as charity fairs, which has given them the opportunity to expand their service even further.
The group meets at the Minster and St John’s on alternate Tuesdays. When at St John’s church they meet at 9.30am – 11.30am, and when at the Minster they meet in the evening between 7pm – 9pm.
They are always ready to welcome new members, whether or not you have a particular crafting skill. A willingness to learn and have a go is all that’s needed to be a part of the Heavenly Handmade family.
